A State of Superposition

SHORTLISTED | Quantum Shorts 2012

Joe Kroese

Raul fled Somalia when he was twelve, after witnessing the killing of his father. On the plane out, the announcements were in a language he couldn’t understand; he had no idea where he was going. He was not in a position to observe the destination and so entered a state of superposition, simultaneously travelling to France, Germany, America and every other country with an airport. It was only once he landed, and a social worker pointed to England on a map, that Raul was once again in a classical location.
